Frequently Asked Questions

What is physiotherapy?

  • Physiotherapy is a treatment method that focuses on restoring, maintaining and maximizing a patient's function and mobility. It is a patient-centred strategy of care that combines physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, education and fitness.

Is Kaylin Martin Physiotherapy covered by OHIP, WSIB or motor vehicle insurance?

  • No, my services are covered under many extended health plans, however at this time I cannot see patients through WSIB, under a MVA plan or billed under OHIP (Hip and Knee Bundle is covered).

Do I need a doctor's referral prior to a physiotherapist visit?

  • Physiotherapy is a direct service in which a physician's referral is not required. Check with your insurance provider to determine if a physician's referral is required for the treatment to be covered.

Is physiotherapy appropriate for my injury or condition?

  • If you are unsure, please feel free to call or email me to discuss if physiotherapy is right for you. I can also direct you to other health care providers that may be more appropriate for your care.

Is Kaylin Martin Physiotherapy appropriate for my pelvic health care?

  • I am not specialized in women's health care, however, I have completed a non-internal introductory course for women's pelvic health conditions. If further internal exam and treatment is required, I will refer you to a specialized physiotherapist for further care.

What is the Pain Truth Program?

  • This program was developed by a physiotherapist named Bahram Jam. It is for patients with a Central Sensitization Pain, which is a chronic pain due to the sensitization of the central neurons leading to a reduced threshold to all normal afferent input. This may include patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia, phantom limb pain, chronic spinal pain or chronic whiplash association disorder. This program focuses on helping patients return to activities they love and meet their specific personalized goals. Please contact me for more information if this program is right for you.
